The characters in these stories are all mentioned or suggested in Jesus' birth story.  In Part I of the book, people from the shepherds who saw the angels, to the innkeeper who had no rooms, to the soldiers sent to kill the baby Jesus, each encountered or were affected by the birth of Jesus. Part II of the book imagines how the animlas involved in the birth story may have reacted. Our hope is that you read the people and animal stories and decide for yourself if you think this is how they might have been touched and changed.  Be prepared as you read to possibly have an encounter yourself and think about how you might have responded in their places.
